Easilift Loading Systems, the market leader in industrial doors and loading bay solutions can proudly announce that several of their engineers have been through the assessment process of the new and highly regarded Level 2 NVQ certification in Specialist Installation Occupations (Construction) – Loading Bay Equipment – Installation or Maintenance.
The aim of the qualification is to recognise the knowledge, skills and competency demonstrated by an individual in the workplace.
To pass the NVQ competency assessment, a skilled worker needs to provide evidence that they are able to pass all 5 units which make up the NVQ. Workers have to be assessed on site and complete all 5 units to gain the NVQ qualification.
The 5 units are derived from National Occupational Standards:
- QCF641 Conforming to General Health, Safety and Welfare in the Workplace
- QCF642 Conforming to Productive Working Practices in the Workplace
- QCF643 Moving, Handling and Storing Resources in the Workplace
- QCF683 Installing loading bay equipment in the workplace
- QCF684 Servicing and maintaining loading bay equipment in the workplace
For more than 2 years the Association of Loading or Elevating Equipment Manufacturers (ALEM) has been proactively working in collaboration with the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) and the Sector Skills Council to develop a National Occupational Standard (NOS) for Loading Bay Installation & Maintenance.
In February 2015 the NOS created a new vocational qualification for Loading Bay Installation & Maintenance which was approved by the awarding body and turned into a new National Vocational Qualification or NVQ.
From March 31st 2017 the construction industry will start assessing that skilled construction workers entering onto construction sites have received the relevant training and possess the required skills specific to the type of work that they carry out. The new qualification is an NVQ Level 2 Certificate in Specialist Installation Occupations (Construction) - Loading Bay Equipment - Installation or Maintenance.
